Reposted from @violetbinteractive Repost💜 @violetesq Happy to see so many people working together, trying to do right by each other💜Seen some honest dialogue & people who truly want change🙏🏽Made other observations as well, and ask that folks consider this: For those of you who newly enter into conversations on this topic & especially when doing so with people who have different racial/ethnic backgrounds than you & different life experiences based on that fact, please understand these definitions of racism & know which one you are discussing at that time. It’s super difficult to get to real solutions as a team when you’re not even really addressing the same problem. In various conversations people who have never & won’t ever experience SYSTEMIC RACISM, but have dealt with others’ PERSONAL BIASES, enter the conversation with statements like “I’ve experienced racism from ALL races,” or “Racism is in EVERY race.” Depending on who you are speaking to, that’s probably not the best start to a serious discussion on taking action to correct racial discrimination & injustice within this country’s governmental systems, which is really the goal. Maybe you’re just folks commiserating over times where someone made you feel bad for being a certain race & if you’re both on that page, that’s cool. But if you are talking to someone from a community of people who legit fear for their children’s lives, or have themselves been wrongfully arrested, denied due process or some other CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT based on their race/ethnicity/religion, etc., bringing up your hurt feelings in that moment can set things in the wrong direction. Hope this helps someone. ✊🏽 ☮️ #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #KnowBetterDoBetter 🕊🙏🏽💜 #endracism #georgefloyd #racism #privilege #whiteprivilege #christiancooper #blacklivesmatter #weaponizedwhiteness #violetesq #blackgirlmagic #blackexcellence #VioletBInterACTive - #regrann
